Pick Your Poision
Matthew 7:3-5 New International Version (NIV)
3 “Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? 4 How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye?5 You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.
There has been a clear misunderstanding of Christians and judging. It breaks my heart to hear of so many people who have been hurt by other Christians. Churches divided other this, friendships torn apart over this even families, my own included!
Yes, the bible does talk about being able to know another true Christian by the fruit that they produce.
Matthew 7:16 NLT You can identify them by their fruit, that is, by the way they act. Can you pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles?
We are called to love! Not judge, that is Gods job.
Romans 14 :1-13 ESV
As for the one who is weak in faith, welcome him, but not to quarrel over opinions. One person believes he may eat anything, while the weak person eats only vegetables. Let not the one who eats despise the one who abstains, and let not the one who abstains pass judgment on the one who eats, for God has welcomed him. Who are you to pass judgment on the servant of another? It is before his own master that he stands or falls. And he will be upheld, for the Lord is able to make him stand. One person esteems one day as better than another, while another esteems all days alike. Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind. …
We can lovingly encourage our brothers and sisters in Christ about a certain ungodly behavior. Being careful to not destroy a relationship. We can pray about God opening up the right door and softening their hearts to a friendly conversation about it.
I feel like Christians have become the route of jokes, because so many of them are hypocrites! Its so sad, Are we living our lives Monday through Saturday one way and pretending to be someone else on Sunday at Church? Are our lives leading people to Christ or pointing them to the world?
1 Corinthians 8:9 GNT Be careful, however, not to let your freedom of action make those who are weak in the faith fall into sin.
We all sin, WE ALL SIN! Just in different ways. Its all poison, it all leads to death and destruction wether its pride, adultery, gluteny, anger, addictions ect.
Romans 3:23 New International Version (NIV)
23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God!
My pastors at my church did a sermon one time together and they said first off they both had a different opinion about this certain subject they were about to talk about. There is in some points of the bible no “clear” answers. We can search and search and debate and hypothesis it all we want but no ONE person will have all the answers. Its good to hear others opinions and then pray and see what God reveals to you about a subject in the bible. My pastors embrace each others differences and respect each others opinion and still LOVE each other.
Our world today is so divided. There is a song that I love by Mandisa called “We all bleed the same”
I am by no means saying that you should keep an unhealthy relationship going because you are supposed to “LOVE” everyone and not judge ect, and be a door mat. NO we still need to protect our families and guard our hearts. I am saying it is ok to still LOVE people you come in contact with or fall into a debate about a differences of opinions.
I am not saying we are to condone sin either. We all have to stand in front of God one day and explain OUR own actions. Our actions need to be out of LOVE, it is possible to discuss and have a differences of opinion without losing that relationship. Many Christians have forgotten that they are sinners in need of a savior just as much as the next guy! We are saved my GRACE, which means you did NOTHING to deserve his saving! Just remember to LOVE each other, in the end will it really matter if every one agreed with you?
