Windows to the Soul
My inspiration for writing comes from the oddest things sometimes, ha ha …
Me Last night: I will be productive tomorrow, clean and pack some more.
Me this morning: My head is pounding, my eyes are burning, and I feel like a vampire with every been of light melting my eyeballs! Migraines SUCK!
With all of my focus on my eyes and head pounding, this verse came to mind. The picture above is one I made that includes a picture of my husbands actual eye. I have always been attracted to the eyes first believe it or not. I honestly can tell a lot about a person by their eyes. Not to brag or anything but my husband has gorgeous hazel eyes that turn green in the sun light! Eyes are amazing to me, the design the intricate wide varieties of color. My oldest daughter actually has a gene mutation in her eyes and have literally changed colors a few times in her life. They are just as unique as finger prints. There is so much more to our eyes than just physical…
Matthew 6:22 ESV
“The eye is the lamp of the body. So, if your eye is healthy, your whole body will be full of light,
I think this is partly where the saying of ” our eyes are the window to the soul” came from. It makes perfect sense that what goes in we can never unseen. Have you ever had a bad dream or night mare and think wow, I haven’t watched that movie since I was blank old… Or some thing that came to mind years later. As I was cringing at every beam of light this morning causing me pain, It made me think of how many times people who are hurting run from the very light that can ease their pain!
Psalm 18:28 ESV
For it is you who light my lamp; the Lord my God lightens my darkness.
John 8:12 ESV
Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
Evil hides in the darkness. Isaiah 29:15 says Woe to those who go to great depths to hide their plans from the LORD, who do their work in darkness and think, “Who sees us? Who will know?” Funny how evil people think they are not seen in the darkness. God is omni present which means he is every where at all times, sees everything, knows everything even the thoughts you think are only yours to hear, he hears! This is a hard concept for us mortal humans to except. There are many things our brains just can not understand right now, which is where faith plays its part!
SO many times when we are not happy about they way our life’s turning out we feel the need to be mad at God for it. It takes us to a deeper and darker place in our sorrows. Learning to praise God and know God is still good during our trials in life will help keep our “eyes” healthy! Our soul can still be at peace in times of trouble. God will, and willingly gives his peace to those that ask. This is a kind of peace that no one can explain away! Its beyond our understanding. It only comes from God.
I read a very inspirational meme on social media this morning, amazing right! It spoke of a person holding their cup of coffee and some one bumping them and spilling it. It said that if it were a cup of tea it would of spilled tea and not coffee… We are that cup and when life bumps us, and it will, it went on to say, what will come out? What are you filling your soul/cup with? Joy, love, kindness, forgiveness Ect, that is what will spill out! Or is it anger, greed, malice Ect. that will spill out!
What are we watching? What are we reading? what are we listening to? Does is bring joy, glory to God? Does it fill us with hope? Our eyes, our “windows” they let in light, but they can also let in darkness. Do your windows need washing? Great news I know a window washer!! His name is Jesus!
