Early Bird Gets The Worm
Not being a morning person I have always loved all the memes about this saying. I have actually thought that maybe my unsuccessful life was due to not being a morning person in direct results to this very saying! I do not believe this any longer…. well for a long time now! I do now believe:
I am sure many who even not familiar with the Bible have heard this before, probably confused after hearing it I’m sure as well! Jesus made this comment a few times. This particular one in refrence to a wealthy and powerful mans comment to him. This man would be considered a “good” man, honest and moral. Jesus asked this man to give it all up and follow him; something he could not do. Jesus doesn’t want us poor by all means. We can be both monetary successful and still love God, its hard I am sure (I wouldn’t know) or the Bible wouldn’t talk about money so much! This man in Matthew 19 had a covitness heart. He chose his wealth and success over God.
In our society today success looks very different from how Jesus views success. I might not have a huge house, name brand clothes ( unless I found it at a thrift store deal) flashy bling or a catchy ride, but my kids all love Jesus! My kids all know that a life without God is no life at all! My kids love to help others, show Gods love to everyone ( their not perfect, they still have sibling smack down events) point is that my success is in giving my kids the best eternal success their is! Pointing my children in the direction of our saviour is my only job, one day I will answer to my heavenly father in regards to raising my children in the worlds standards vs His standards!
So ya, I may not get the worm… but the second mouse gets the cheese!
