Spring Cleaning

Being a Christian doesn’t mean we have to wait for eternity to reap the benefits. We can unpack our luggage and leave it at the foot of the cross!

We all have some kind of baggage we carry with us. The things we carry deap inside to every day stressers that climb their way inside your bags and slowly add up to a very heavey piece of luggage that even with wheels, is very hard to drag on every day.

Why do we insist on dragging all this luggage around with us? Why do we continually burden ourselves? Why do we feel it’s our job to hold the weight of the world on our shoulders? I have no idea…

I do know that there is a God who sent his son to die a horrific undeserving death so we could leave our cares at the foot of cross, be free in victory over a battle all ready won!

Many times we think God does not want to be “bothered” with the small stuff, after all he is GOD! We are very wrong, he wants us to come to him with it all, after all he is GOD!

Even if he doesn’t wave his hand and magically change our situation, he can and will give us peace. Who couldn’t use a little peace in their lives?

Giving light to the true meaning of why we are even here on earth does help me in times that I seem to fret over petty earthly things. Asking questions like ” does this effect my eternal salvation?” Or “how can I glorify God in my present situation?”

Every once in a while, spring being a good reminder of “spring cleaning” I have to take an inventory of my internal closet. How many sneaky bags have I packed? What do I need to unload at the cross? What is weighting down my heart? What is blocking me from resting at His feet?

What bags are you holding onto? What is the reason you can not unpack them at the cross? Is it fear? Do you not truly believe God can handle All things, do all things? If so, pray and ask for forgiveness for unbelief. Do not harden your hearts like the Israelite, humble your self and rest in his peace.

Hebrews 3:12-19

Take care, brethren, that there not be in any one of you an evil, unbelieving heart that falls away from the living God. But encourage one another day after day, as long as it is still called “Today,” so that none of you will be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin. For we have become partakers of Christ, if we hold fast the beginning of our assurance firm until the end,
while it is said, “TODAY IF YOU HEAR HIS VOICE, DO NOT HARDEN YOUR HEARTS, AS WHEN THEY PROVOKED ME.” For who provoked Him when they had heard? Indeed, did not all those who came out of Egypt led by Moses? And with whom was He angry for forty years? Was it not with those who sinned, whose bodies fell in the wilderness? And to whom did He swear that they would not enter His rest, but to those who were disobedient? So we see that they were not able to enter because of unbelief.

Clean out your internal closet, leave that burdensome luggage with the only true care taker, Jesus Christ!

Happy cleaning!
